A six-session, one-on-one journey with a couple mentor from your parish.

What does it take to “love” and “honour” someone “in good times and in bad … all the days” of your life? Are you prepared to go through difficult times with your partner? The Couple Mentor Journey (CMJ) is an initiative designed to help couples to dedicate more time to prepare for the real challenges of marriage, by learning from the lived experience of their couple mentors.

The CMJ programme is a parish-based programme that integrates contemporary relationship psychology with Catholic theology, offering an effective and powerful experience for engaged couples and newly married couples.

Whether you are preparing for marriage, or a newly wedded couple, learn from the joys and challenges of more experienced married couples, be challenged to live an authentic love relationship centered on Christ, and build a firm foundation for your new life together.

The Journey
For the journey, you will be matched with a Couple Mentor from the parish you belong to. Your journey with them will be over six sessions at their home so that you get to see marriage ‘live’.

The six sessions will cover:

  • A Mission to Love
  • Dialogue: Being One
  • Knowing Me, Knowing You
  • Building Unity
  • Sex: Sacred Embrace
  • Soul Mates for Life

Each session will last between 90 and 120 minutes at a mutually agreeable schedule between you and your Couple Mentors. The lead time between sessions is 1-2 weeks, hence you can expect to complete the journey in 2-3 months. Between sessions, there will be extension activities you are expected to complete with your spouse at home, which will help you to put the tools into practise.

Your investment in the CMJ is $98.00. This pays for the workbooks you will need for the Journey.

What people say:

THE COURSE HAS TAUGHT US A LOT and really paints a brighter picture [of marriage] with being fruitful, and giving yourself to your spouse. And I think it’s a very beautiful way to look at sex and marriage, especially in this day and age. Couple-to-couple mentoring is the perfect format because you’re mirroring yourself with someone who has been in your position and knows the trials and tribulations, the growth, and the good things that can come out of this union. We formed a really beautiful friendship with our mentor couple.” – Jo and Laura, newlyweds
